Colonel Mitali Madhumita received the Sena Medal in [1] for exemplary courage shown during the attack on the Indian embassy by terrorists in Kabul, Afghanistan on 26 February ,when she was a Major[2] and operations in Jammu-Kashmir[1] and the northeast states of India.[2] Colonel Madhumita[3] went into the Indian embassy which had come under attack and rescued several injured civilians and army personnel from the debris.
About nineteen people died in the Kabul embassy attack including seven Indians.[4]
