Encoding your own files and trolling AJHQ or trying to upload something super obviously not made in the art studio could land you with a /ban/ from Animal Jam, seriously, don't risk that. But if you ever wanted to save your artwork in a standard image format then there is no harm in that.
Is this legal?
Yes according to Section 103(f) of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) (17 USC § 1201 (f)), and dubiously legal from The Copyright Act of 1976, 17 U.S.C. § 107 for the purposes listed above. Although a full explanation of this can be found here.
